A Bioregional Financing Framework
Regenerating the Osa Peninsula from the Ground Up
We are the ReGenerOsa Collective — a living, bioregional flow fund already rooted in the Osa Peninsula. Our mission is to regenerate both the ecological and social systems of this richly biodiverse region, while resourcing the people and projects doing the work on the ground.
Who We Are
We are a collective of individuals, groups, and initiatives working toward a regenerative society in the Osa — one rooted in community, reciprocity, and solidarity. Though we haven’t yet formalized under a single "umbrella," we’ve grown into a strong bioregional alliance, supported by international networks of regenerative finance and land-based impact.
A living model of regeneration
Inspired by nature’s own design and the Bioregional Finance Facility (BIOFI) model, our approach has grown into a three-legged structure:
Bioregional Hub – Los Higuerones: A community space evolving into a commons-based land trust. Los Higuerones hosts gatherings, cultivates resilience, and anchors regional collaboration.
Bioregional Organizing Team: A growing team of local leaders weaving governance, coordination, and vision. This team supports community-led planning, decision-making, and regenerative strategies.
ReGenerOsa Flow Fund: A participatory funding system that supports grassroots regenerative work. Our pilot “Spider Round” in 2024 successfully funded community projects through inclusive, transparent, and culturally grounded processes.
What We’ve Already Done
Mobilized over 1,200 volunteers through Manos Cambiadas
Hosted more than 208 local farmers markets
Convened over 30 stakeholder gatherings
different people from 9 of 12 Osa communities received funding
Built regional and global partnerships in regenerative finance
What’s Next
With continued support, we will:
Launch and sustain a permanent Bioregional Organizing Team
Activate a community-based microcredit system
Create regenerative land trust structures
Facilitate citizen assemblies and regional gatherings
Support volunteer recognition and local leadership development
We aim to raise 1 million dollars over the next 3 years to fully root this bioregional framework. Every contribution — from small donations to aligned partnerships — helps nourish what is already growing.
Join the Movement
This is not a concept on paper. It is a living, functioning structure that’s already thriving. Now we invite aligned partners, funders, and co-stewards to join us in deepening the roots of a regenerative Osa.
